Uniting Roman Army Studies

 
 


Most aspects of the Roman Empire are intrinsically bound up with the history of the Roman army: politics, warfare, society, the economy, literature, religion, and even art. Our knowledge of all these gain much from a better understanding of the Roman soldier and his world. However, the results of Roman army research are widely dispersed in a welter of journals and difficult to marshal. In 1984 Michael P. Speidel therefore launched the Mavors series.



The Mavors series now consists of the following 13 volumes:


The Mavors series was first produced by Gieben, Amsterdam
(vols. 1-4 and 6), and is now published by the Steiner Verlag, Stuttgart.
